El documental tiene como escenario la puna argentina, donde se muestra el fuerte sentido de pertenencia de sus habitantes a través de dos hechos significativos: uno es el "Toreo de la vincha", única corrida de toros de Sudamérica, donde no se lastima al toro; el otro son los conflictos por la propiedad de las tierras que estallaron a fines del siglo XIX entre terratenientes y puneños, centrándose en las sangrientas batallas de Cochinoca y Quera.
