Manuel está preso en una cárcel del sur de Chile. Durante el terremoto del 27 de febrero de 2010, la prisión se derrumba. En medio del caos, algunos presos, entre ellos Manuel, logran salir. Entonces se convierte en un fugitivo, perdido en medio de la catástrofe. Cuando regresa a casa, descubre que su casa ha sido devastada y que el maremoto se ha llevado a su mujer y a su hija. Mientras avanza por paisajes de completa destrucción, el fugitivo comienza a profundizar más sobre la devastación y su propia angustia interior. Esta paradójica libertad lo llevará a enfrentarse a la crueldad de la naturaleza y llevar hasta el límite su propia experiencia humana.
