Pequeña ciudad de América: los Cohens propio de una sala de cine; el Kellys propia de un comensal. Kitty Kelly y Maurice Cohen son jóvenes amantes; Maurice envía el Gatito de la foto de un estudio de cine, y ellos la aceptan y hacen de ella una estrella. Pronto, la familia de Kelly está viviendo la gran vida; que escribir una postal a los Cohen, que toman un amable "wish you were here" como una invitación para vender de todo.
