El herrero sin igual, Meng Yezi, sufrió la calamidad del exterminio familiar del traidor Zhao Han que sirvió en la corte por lanzar la famosa espada Hanguang. Salvó desesperadamente a su hijo Meng Yang y le dejó la Espada Chengying sin forjar. Veinte años después, Meng Yang creció y trató de vengar a su padre. En ese momento, Chengying Sword aún no había sido lanzado para competir con Hanguang Sword. Entonces, el emperador se estaba muriendo y, por casualidad, se asignó a Meng Yang para escoltar al príncipe Gong Zidu de regreso al palacio para suceder al trono.
