Un humilde y sencillo Takezo abandona su vida de caballero andante. Él es buscado como un maestro y vasallo por el Shogun de Japón, la más potente que el líder del clan. También desafió a pelear por la gran confianza y hábil Sasaki Kojiro. Takezo se compromete a luchar contra Kojiro en el plazo de un año, pero rechaza Shogun del patrocinio, eligiendo en su lugar para vivir en el borde de un pueblo, levantando las verduras. Él siguió allí por Otsu y más tarde por Akemi, tanto en el amor con él. El año termina como Takezo ayuda a los aldeanos en contra de una banda de malhechores. Busca Otsu del perdón y acepta su amor, entonces pone en marcha a través del agua a la Isla de Ganryu para su concurso final.
