El recién llegado Dr. Garondet es convocado por el profesor Orloff pero la gente en su pueblo tiene miedo de ir a su castillo. La insistente Dr. Garondet alcanza el castillo y los siervos le enviara a hablar con Cécile Orloff, que es la hija de la profesora y está preocupado acerca de la salud mental de su padre. El Dr. Garondet cumple con el profesor Orloff y le cuenta lo que le sucedió a Cécile hace algún tiempo y de su experimento con un hombre invisible, y él explica que su hija está desquiciado debido a que se reportó el incidente. El Dr. Garondet tiene que pasar la noche en el castillo y pronto se entera de quién es el loco.
