Escrito por ITV SÁBADO por la NOCHE el TEATRO de la serie, Dennis Potter introdujo la noción de que la música popular expresa el anhelo del espíritu humano para un mundo mejor. Un joven con problemas, David Peters (Ian Holm), afirma, "cuando los sueños eran posibles, que es lo que las canciones populares que nos dijo." Rechazando la música rock del día, Peters está inmerso en la música de los años Treinta cantante de Al Bowlly (muerto durante el blitz de Londres). Él recoge Bowlly recuerdos, publica el Bowlly club de fans boletín de noticias, y encuentra placer en el labio-synching Bowlly registros, pero su obsesión con Bowlly máscaras de ciertos oscuros de su pasado.
