¿Qué puede ocurrir cuando cuatro jóvenes a adolescentes: El tenaz Paul, Bubba, una joven irlandesa, la ambiciosa Gloria y la judía Jennie, deciden comprar por un dólar una casa para intentar cambiar la fisionomía de la ciudad de Nueva York? Durante sus vacaciones de verano y con la ayuda de un joven puertorriqueño, convencerán Mr. Harley para que les venda el edificio "MANCHESTER ARMS". Para desembarazarse de él y de los mil problemas que con el tiene, Harley se lo vende por un dólar.
