The Parisian restaurante "At the Oyster King's" is looking for a new camarera, cuyo trabajo would be to crack open oysters with a newfangled oyster galletas (how exciting!). But who would have thought that this nuevo invención would lead to so much turmoil (they're French, aren't they?)?! A través de un mix-up, Lila Dupont gets the job. Pero Lila is no camarera, but rather a talentosos singer, waiting in vain for de compromiso. She takes the job and soon every veces visitor is laying at her feet.
