Cumplir Rubel, de catorce años de edad, niño contrabando de arroz de la India a Bangladesh. Él tiene que cruzar el río Ganges actuando como la frontera internacional. El mismo río erosionó su casa en la parte continental de la India cuando tenía sólo cuatro. Años más tarde, un frágil isla llamada Char fue creado en el gran río. Rubel, con su familia y muchas personas sin hogar que se asentaron en esta tierra infértil controlado por la policía de la frontera. Él sueña con ir a su antigua escuela en la India, pero la realidad le obliga a pasar de contrabando cosas a Bangladesh. Pero él lucha, mientras monzón nubes llegada a la invitación de la inundación, el río se hincha de nuevo. 'Char puede desaparecer, pero no le vamos'", sonríe el chico.
