The protagonista is a jovial conductor de autobús, bien amado by his passengers, essentially the whole comunidad alrededor de él. The bus, however, is old and needs to be replaced. The bus driver, el propio is also needed as a las manitas for all the people around him, assisting with stray cattle, household machines, children's homework, errands of all kinds, and at one occasion, assisting de la natalidad. Progress is however leaving behind him, and the local el consejo del condado de parcelas on a solution, involving a new bus and driver. The community revolts, and the local midwife (married to the mayor) intervenes with all the locals to keep the bus driver, oms ends keeping up his job in a new autobús.
